To control COVID-19 pandemic, most of the people are encouraged to stay at home. This gives the great opportunity to rediscover own heritages while staying at home and seizing this opportunity, the Yangon Heritage Trust launched a social media campaign called, “Heritage at Home” on 8 May, 2020.
YHT introduced this campaign with three main objectives:
To engage with the public via social media to increase public awareness on heritage assets
To encourage the public to value heritage items that reflect lifestyles of the past Yangon
To encourage the public to upcycle or reuse these items in order to raise awareness on conscious living
In order to participate, a participant need to take photo of his own heritage item which has to be at least 15 years or older or maybe item that is associated with a significant event, period or a major change. Then, the photo is to be shared on Facebook or Instagram publicly using #heritageathome #yht together with a brief text describing the item’s history, how the owner acquired the item, and what makes owner still keeping the item.
